I think the various methods of teaching throughout the film were helpful in engaging all sorts of audience members - the Simpsons-esque animation, the selected quotes, the animated graphs and most importantly interweaving the macro climate crisis with micro personal anecdotes from Gore. I know that after being in Biloxi and seeing firsthand the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the parts of the film that dealt with that tragic event resonated that much more.

I admit that there was a bit of a facts and figures-overload (and my sister nodded off a bit during them), but it only made the case for changing our own habits and those of our community and leaders stronger. The photographs comparing the past and present conditions of the glaciers had more of an impact to me. I wish the transitions between them didn't pass by so quickly.

I want to translate the information I learned into action now. I will try to get my idea of petitioning my college cafeteria to use more sustainable takeout containers to happen, and write to my local politicians about getting the word out about green power.

I really appreciate your efforts to get people energized about helping other people to see this film, Eric.

AMAZING! I knew something about global warming -- or so I thought! -- but I didn't realize it was such an imminent threat. This truly was a horror movie. Wow. I bought the book the next day to show the rest of my family.

Since seeing the movie -- my family has changed all the lightbulbs in our house to compact florescents, planted another tree in the yard, taken 2 loads of empty water bottles to the recycle center (which paid for the tree & lightbulbs), and installed an under sink water filter so we will STOP buying individual water bottles altogether. Little changes, I know, but hopefully they add up.

My next car will be a hybrid (or, better yet, biodiesel). I think twice about driving and take pains to combine errands (unfortunately, I live in a rural area so walking / biking is not practical).

I've also told just about everyone I know about the film (& the sharethetruth website).

Thank you again for your generosity & quick response to my initial request.

Contrary to those who say the film merely "preaches to the choir", I believe An Inconvenient Truth is one of the most accessible "mind-changers" out there.

>>
My wife, Lindsay, and I just got back from the movie tonight. The film far exceeded my expectations and made the issue so incredibly clear in both its scope and immediacy. I can't wait to get this when it's out on DVD to show to all my family and friends. Al's message of peril, but also hope, has to be passed on to everyone we know as this problem is truly global.

Best,

Aaron

Jeannie needn't despair, since the DVD is coming out in a month and Gore's 1000-strong training program is already underway!

>>
Thanks again for the movie tickets. We all very much liked the movie and are recommending all of our friends and family to go. I cannot believe this movie is not showing in more places!! It should be shown in every theater! We had trouble finding a theater close to us. Hopefully that will change.

Thanks again so much for what you are doing.

Warm Regards,

Jeannie

Food for thought for Jon and his friend:

>>
It was a wake up call to be sure. I'm looking forward to the release of the video. This is one of those that needs to be slowed down and taken in small pieces. Our brains were pretty much full in the first half hour. :-)

From Christopher. Simply stated.

The movie was great. Not much new info, but packaged in a compelling way for the greater spectrum of people that we share the planet with. I have had many conversations about it since, and am in full support of your efforts to get the word out there!

Ronald would like to see more action. (In response to Ronald, I quoted a link to a recent post on Treehugger regarding bold strides (green ones, of course) made by American universities across the country. Let's get with it, Harvard!)

Update: Looks like Harvard has some good ideas. With any luck, they'll move the timetable up too!

>>
Thank you so much for giving me and my girlfriend the opportunity to see 'An Inconvenient Truth'. Despite the fact that I knew already many of the facts, it was impressive to see it. I work at Harvard and try to convince people here to see it as well. It would be great if we could show the movie to the
whole community of Harvard and make them aware of the things that are going on with our planet. Despite the fact that many people know I have the idea that not many people are actually doing something about it. I guess that is because nobody sees how one person can make a difference. If we could start a strong green movement at Harvard it might be picked up by other
universities and communities. I don't know if Al Gore ever visited Harvard and gave his lecture here, but it might be nice to have him here giving a presentation and maybe afterwards show the movie to a large audience.

Kris takes action. AWESOME.

Thank you for the free admission to see Inconvenient Truth. I have always believed though that global warming is indeed a problem, and I knew that the past few years have been proof of such events. However, I didn't know how much we have damaged our planet already.

However I am ashamed to admit that my country has switched sides with the Kyoto Protocol, due to the new government. After seeing the movie i'm gonna write to my MP (Who is of the Conservitive Government) and ask him to request Canada to join the Kyoto Protocol once again.

Again Thank you for the Admission, the person who I went with learned alot more then what she previously thought.

Again Thank you and your kind website.

However it is time for me to stop thanking you at the moment and do something about it. I should start writing a draft letter to my MP. Thank you, once again.

We took a friend to see it this week. We had a great discussion after the film and he was totally dumbstruck by the film. He thought nothing would affect him in his lifetime, that future generations would figure it all out.

I found out today that he'd spent the better part of the week researching global warming on the internet. He's totally changed his views on the subject of global warming!

Tyler responds:

Thanks so much for the tickets! That's a very important movie for these times. I've been encouraging everyone I know to see it. I've been researching and re-evaluating the ways I live, since seeing it. I'm a Democrat, but I must admit I was turned off by Gore's reliving the election drama. I can only imagine how the right must be ripping it apart.

However, I've heard the argument from several people now, that Gore is occasionally hypocritical with various choices he makes. This to me, is largely irrelevant. Instead of taking the easy way out and condemning others, the important thing is for people to see the movie, do research and make ethical choices. Thanks for helping us out with the cost, as we adjust to the high cost of Californing living!

Gordon and sister share their thoughts:

>>
I'd like to thank you for your donation fund! My sister and I watched AIT at Shattuck Cinemas this afternoon, and my sister was very impressed by the film. She told me that she found it 'inspiring' for wanting to do something about the global warming issue. Ultimately, we both found the film very well done, and we'd recommend it to our own friends too. Once again, thanks again for everything!

From Gene and his wife, and with a helpful link that shows just one of the costs of not dealing with the mess we've created:

>>
I did like the film, as did my wife, even though we're Republicans .

I have found a helpful website that I have been sharing with my friends which animates one part of the story much as Al Gore did in the film. http://flood.firetree.net/

Aimee takes the crew:

[Contrary to what we might think, though, plenty of people are changing their minds--and more do every day. Behold the power of a little bit of information presented in good faith. (See ShareTheTruth blog for anectodal evidence :)]

>>
I went with my husband and 2 friends and we all thought it was very well done--the arguments were clear and concise, and we liked the suggestions at the end of the movie (we all switched to wind power last night). I only wish that people who don't believe that anthropogenic global warming is occurring would see it--it seems people who are already convinced are the ones
who end up seeing the film.

Sarah and her friend ruminate after viewing, and look forward to contributing to the effort!

>>
[T]hank you very very much for sponsoring me and my friend's viewing. It was really eye-opening. I mean, I've heard a lot of that information before, but not all at once. The inner-arts/communications student had some issue with how the film turned into a character piece at times, but the actual scientific information in the film was enough to make me feel a lot more conscious about my decisions since seeing the film. It's a little daunting, and I still feel like a pretty small thing that can't really make a difference all by myself. But hopefully there's others like me too.
...
And thank you very much. :) I look forward to paying it forward to the folks I know.

Nigel loved it, and has spread the word through his organization.

>>
I would love to do a screening!

I...definitely have been getting buzz all over Victoria and our organization. Thank you for the help in promoting the film! Our company, MEC, is always interested in environmental causes and this falls in line with our ideals.

Molly shares the film, not a moment too late:

>>
We lagged through summer and then it wasn't in the theaters. I felt really bad so we decided purchased it so we could share it with friends. We have already gave to a friend to share with his family. We were very amazed at what we learned watching the movie. We thought we had a good idea of the issue but it really opened our eyes. Thank you so much. We will do our best to spread the word. I am going to talk to everyone at work tomorrow and see who wants to see it.

Andrew's reaction and thoughts:

>>
I think An Inconvenient Truth was a bold step for Gore. However, some parts of it make it seem like he's running an ad campaign for an upcoming election (I wouldn't be surprised if he did). I'm glad he took the initiative in creating this film just like he took the initiative in creating the internet.
Although I suspect the veracity of some of the facts he provides, I agree with many things he brings up after doing some of my own research following the initial viewing. I talked with a coworker about it and he watched it a few months later. We think that the advent of hybrid cars (properly
saturated) should solve a big part of the traffic problem.

Linda spreads the word!

I understand you must be overwhelmed
with people wanting a copy. But once i heard about how great the film was i
actually went out and bought myself a copy, and since then passed it along
to at least a dozen friends and family to watch.

I think it's great a site like yours exists to help spread the message.
