I just received this message. Felt it worth passing on in a very timely manner.

Subject: Thirteen people can stop global warming
Dear climate supporter,
Received this from a friend? Save the climate before it's too late - 166,464 & counting
Sign the global petition NOW
It's time. In just 10 days the leaders of the G8 and the five other most polluting countries in the world meet in Germany. These 13 men and women will decide the fate of the world's climate. The stakes couldn't be higher.
100,000 of us fought to put the climate crisis at the top of the agenda for this meeting -- and we won. We learned that global public opinion has power. But now we need an outcry like never before if this meeting is to produce not just hot air, but real action. If each of us gets just 4 other friends to sign our call, we can deliver the largest climate petition in history on June 6th. So please, forward this email now to anyone who could help -- they can sign at the link below:

With hope,
Ben, Galit, Ricken, Graziela, Iain, Paul, Hannah and all at Avaaz
PS: Between them, the G8+5 countries at this summit produce over 70% of global warming emissions. For more background, click here to read Avaaz's climate change blog.
Awesome initiative, George. I've signed and am considering sending out heads up emails to a subset of ShareTheTruth participants, but wanted to ask you something first.
Do you know how the petition will be delivered and how much clout Avaaz carries? I have never heard of them but that doesn't necessarily mean they're not influential. I do want to have a sense, however, of what this effort is like before I issue thousands of emails recommending something I don't know much about (their website provides some good information, but I thought I'd ask you, too).
I read up on articles regarding the organization and it looks great. I've sent the petition link on to about 3000 people, so hopefully that will help a little.
